Choosing the Best Linux Distro for Gaming: Bazzite, CachyOS, or Nobara?

I'm looking to switch my gaming setup from Windows to Linux, but I'm torn between three distributions: Bazzite, CachyOS, and Nobara. I play games like Squad, Monster Hunter: World, and Arma on a daily basis. Besides gaming, I also need to run DaVinci Resolve and OBS. Any advice on which distro would suit my needs best? My PC specs are an R5 5600 with an RX 6700 XT. Thanks for your help!

It really depends on how much you're ready to tweak. Both Bazzite and CachyOS are solid choices for general gaming. I find Bazzite a bit easier to use right out of the box, so if you don't want to spend time messing with settings, it might be the better choice. But CachyOS is great too, just requires a bit more setup for optimal performance with games like Arc Raiders. It’s important to note the difference between immutable systems like Bazzite and regular ones like CachyOS.

I've heard Bazzite can be tricky to install software on due to its immutable nature, is that true?

I recommend sticking with any of the three for gaming, but if you want a hassle-free experience with installs for software, Nobara is designed to take care of those nuances without needing extra tweaks.

For your needs, Nobara might be the best bet because it streamlines the setup for DaVinci Resolve, doing a lot of the heavy lifting automatically. If you're planning to use that software, it’ll save you time and hassle.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them, especially since you have an AMD GPU. No need to stress over driver issues like NVIDIA users do. Each distro has a different user experience right from the start, so it might come down to personal preference.
