I'm currently using a Ryzen 3600X, and I upgraded my GPU to a 9070XT. I'm considering whether to buy a 5700 or 5800X3D, but those prices are pretty high. My friend in Canada is seeing them for over CA$400, and I was thinking of having him get one for me. However, I can't switch to AM5 since RAM prices have skyrocketed, and it's not in my budget right now. I'm wondering if it's worth spending around $150 for just a 5700X to see better performance, particularly in Battlefield 6 at 1080p where I experience some frame drops. Alternatively, I could save up for the next 6-7 months and aim for a full AM5 upgrade, but it's tough to decide.

Upgrading to the 5700X would definitely give you a significant boost over the 3600X. If you need something now, I say go for it!
I'd recommend aiming for the 5700X3D if possible. It performs excellently, even at 4K, and it's a worthwhile investment if you plan to hold onto it for a while. Just keep in mind that the next generation AM6 may be a little far off, possibly around 2030!

Yeah, they say Zen 7 is still a ways out, so who knows when Zen 8 will hit. It might be a while.
