Looking for GPU and Motherboard Combo Suggestions within My Budget

I'm considering an upgrade for my current PC setup, particularly for design, 3D art, and some casual gaming. My brother's friend suggested a build that includes some older parts, which I find surprising given the high prices in Canada for those components. While I've got some parts on hand, like the memory, storage, and case, I'm eager to hear suggestions for a newer and better GPU and motherboard combo that won't break the bank. If I can reuse my CPU, that's great, but I'm open to upgrading it as well. My budget for the upgrade is around 1000 CAD. Any recommendations?

Honestly, there's a lot of options out there right now. I think you should really look at getting a newer GPU than the RTX 2060, especially since that card is old and pretty overpriced at $700 right now. Something like the RX 6700 XT or even a 4060 would be a better buy if you're doing design work since it can handle that kind of load well. As for a motherboard, make sure to grab one that fits your new GPU, and keep in mind that your old CPU might limit your choices. You could even look for deals on used parts if you want to save some cash!

A used GPU could be the way to go! I've seen good deals on sites like eBay or local marketplaces. Just be sure to check for warranties if you're going that route.

I totally understand your frustration with those prices! The 4060 Ti is a solid option and shouldn’t be as high as that RTX 2060 you mentioned. If your work benefits from NVIDIA's CUDA cores, then yes, those newer cards are worth the extra investment. Just make sure the motherboard you choose supports the newer generation connections. If your combined budget is around 1000 CAD, you might be able to snag a decent GPU and a compatible motherboard that fits all your needs.

Definitely check out some of the combos on PCPartPicker. You can filter for the latest parts that fit your budget, and it’ll give you a good idea of what's available for your price range!
