I'm looking to build a PC that can handle AAA games at 1080p for at least a decade. Here are the specs recommended by the shop:
- Intel Core Ultra 5 225 Processor
- Gigabyte B860M H DDR5 Intel Motherboard
- 16GB DDR5 RAM at 5600 MHz
- Asus GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB
- 500GB NVMe SSD
- Cooler Master MWE 650V power supply
I asked for the 5060 Ti but I'm uncertain if the Intel Core Ultra is necessary, as most builds I'm seeing use an i5 or i7 instead. I've also heard that a CPU with 16 cores is essential for smooth Unity performance, but since I'm only developing a 2D game, I'm not sure that applies to me.

Don't stress about the naming too much—Core Ultra 5 and i5 are just rebranding efforts by Intel. The Core Ultra series doesn’t offer a significant upgrade over what was previously called i5 for gaming scenarios. It's more about the architecture than the number of cores, especially since you're focusing on 2D games.
I’d recommend going for 32GB of RAM instead of just 16GB. While 16GB will work, 32GB is definitely becoming the new standard and can give you a better overall experience for gaming and multitasking.
I think 16GB is still kind of the bare minimum, but 32GB is definitely the sweet spot for most people these days.

Thanks for that info! Do you think the newer generation CPUs are worth the extra cash? I mean, do they actually have better integrated graphics or any other notable improvements?
