I'm considering upgrading from my 4070 Super, which has served me well, but I really want to experience gaming at 4K. I'll definitely take advantage of DLSS and may lower some graphics settings, but I wouldn't want to go too low. The ideal option for me would be the 5070Ti, but the best price I can find is around 800 Euros. On the other hand, I can get a 9070XT for about 600 Euros.
I understand that choosing the 9070XT means sacrificing ray tracing performance and some Nvidia-specific features, especially since I plan to play games like Black Myth and Cyberpunk. However, the price difference is substantial, and I could sell my current card for about 400 Euros, effectively making the out-of-pocket expense much larger for the 5070Ti. I'm curious how FSR measures up against DLSS nowadays and would love to get your thoughts on this! Additionally, I'll be pairing whichever GPU I choose with a 7800X3D.

For 4K gaming, upscaling has become a must. Currently, DLSS is leading the charge and is more widely implemented than FSR. If you’re doing more competitive play or want to maximize your experience, I’d lean towards Nvidia. But if you’re playing at 1440p, the 9070XT might be fine depending on the game.
True! If FSR was right up there with DLSS, it would make things way easier, but the choice still heavily depends on your game library.
Honestly, jumping from a 4070 Super to a 9070XT at 4K doesn’t seem like a great idea. The VRAM improvement is nice, but losing out on DLSS and its extensive game support is a real downside. I've been gaming at 4K for over three years and have found the 4070 Super to be quite capable, especially with optimization and DLSS support.
I totally agree! If you're already doing well with a 4070 Super, maybe it's better to stick with it instead of switching to something that may not bring that much improvement.
Right? The only reason to switch would be if you wanted the newer features and performance at higher settings.
As a long-time Nvidia fan, I don't think the price difference is worth it unless you’re really loyal to the brand. I faced the same dilemma a few months ago and ended up going with the 9070XT, which turned out to be a solid choice after doing my research.
Totally get the brand loyalty thing, but I've been switching up my PC components based on what makes sense performance-wise. It’s wild how much that changes!
Exactly! When I was planning on getting an RTX 5070Ti, I noticed the 9070XT was just a better deal for what I could get, especially at the price I found. Not worth an extra $150 for the same performance!
In terms of raw performance, both cards are almost on par. If you're choosing between the two based on price, I think 200 Euros is a hefty mark-up for Nvidia's extra features. If you're okay with forgoing some of those perks, the 9070XT is a great deal.
Exactly! Raw performance doesn't tell the whole story, especially when software optimization plays a massive role in gaming today.
Totally! Remember, the advantage Nvidia has in terms of features can sometimes justify a small price increase, but 200 Euros is a stretch.

That’s where it gets tricky! In titles that support it, the 5070Ti does things better at 1440p in terms of performance while the 9070XT is a great casual choice.
