I put together a PC in 2023 with a 7900XTX graphics card and an R7 5800X processor. While my GPU should hold up for at least another year, I'm not keen on swapping out my motherboard right now. So, I'm stuck with an AM4 CPU. What's the best gaming CPU I can get under these circumstances? I'm thinking the R7 5800X3D might be a good choice, but I'd love to hear any other suggestions! Additionally, do you think it would be wiser to just upgrade both the motherboard and CPU? I'm open to that option too! Thanks!

The 5800X3D has been pretty tough to find and prices are all over the place since it's been out of production for a while. For what you’d spend on that, you could almost afford a complete AM5 setup—just something to think about!
The 5800X3D is the best you can get on AM4 for gaming. Just keep in mind, if you decide to upgrade to something higher, you’ll need to replace the mobo and RAM too, which can be a bigger expense.
The 5800X3D is solid for gaming on AM4, but honestly, it’s not a huge jump from the 5800X. If you have the cash, consider going all out and upgrading to an AM5 platform. A 7800X3D or even a 9800X3D could really boost your performance!
Don’t forget to grab a B650 or B850 motherboard with that AM5 upgrade!
