Is an i7 12700f a Good Upgrade for My H610M Motherboard?

I'm currently using an i3 12100f on a H610M motherboard, but I recently found a fantastic deal on an i7 12700f at a local tech shop, and I'm considering making the upgrade. I've heard that there could be issues with the VRMs on my motherboard and that using the i7 might not give me its full potential because of a possible bottleneck. I'm looking for advice on what PL1, PL2, and Tau settings to use for a balanced performance that won't risk damaging my CPU or motherboard. I want to ensure that the default settings won't be too dangerous and if I need to tweak anything for a safe yet effective use of the i7's capabilities. By the way, I'll be pairing this CPU with a Thermalright Assassin X 120 Refined SE cooler. Any advice would be really appreciated!

A good approach is to look for an option in your BIOS that matches your cooler type—like choosing 'stock cooler'—which will set the CPU's power limits to Intel's defaults. This should keep safety in check. Also, make sure your case has good airflow, and you might want to keep an eye on your VRM temps for a while just to be cautious. Generally, you should be fine with those settings!

I heard pairing that CPU with your motherboard is risky! Will that setting pop up automatically when I install the new CPU? And how do I check VRM temperatures?
