Should I Upgrade My Current PC or Sell It for a New Build?

I'm at a crossroads with my PC setup and could really use some advice. I've got a Ryzen 7 5800x3d, a ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3070, and 32GB of RAM on an ASUS TUF Gaming B450M-Plus II motherboard. With the AM4 socket, I'm feeling limited when it comes to CPU upgrades since the 5800x3d is still pretty solid. However, the GPU might benefit from an upgrade, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it knowing that I'll likely need to switch to an AM5 build in a year or two anyway. I also have a Samsung Odyssey G6 27" OLED monitor that runs at 2K and 360Hz, so I'm looking to play a lot of shooters like CS2 and some new AAA titles. Do you think I should sell my current setup to build something new or just make some upgrades?

Your CPU is still very capable! Just because it's an older generation doesn't mean it can't handle current games. I think upgrading your GPU could be a good move, especially since you have a pretty sweet 360Hz monitor. You'll likely see more improvements in gaming performance that way without needing an entirely new build just yet.

I suggest slapping a 5070 Ti in there and calling it a day! It'll give you a decent performance boost, and you won't be scrambling to build a new system right now. Just ride it out until the AM5 parts are more readily available and affordable.

I’d say upgrade the GPU and hold off for AM6. You're right about the AM4 limits, but a good GPU can really extend the life of your current rig. Just keep in mind that waiting a year or two for AM6 might make your upgrade worth it in the long run.
