Why Am I Getting Low FPS with My New Monitor Setup?

I recently upgraded to a 34-inch ultrawide monitor with a resolution of 1440p and 144Hz, coming from a 24-inch 1080p monitor. Now, I'm experiencing lower FPS, getting only around 60 FPS even in less demanding games, while I used to get 80-120 FPS on max settings. Is the new monitor affecting my FPS? What are some adjustments I can make in my control panel or gaming settings in Windows to improve performance?

The drop in FPS is likely due to the increased resolution of your new monitor. With more pixels to render, your GPU is working harder, which can affect your frame rates. Using DLSS in supported games could help improve performance with only a slight quality loss.

Exactly! Moving from 1080p to 1440p requires a lot more power from your GTX 3080Ti. Since a 34-inch 1440p ultrawide has about 5 million pixels, it can challenge your GPU significantly. If you're worried about consistent low FPS, consider adjusting the resolution settings or switching to a smaller monitor with higher refresh rates to improve your gameplay experience.

Yes, more pixels mean it's tougher for your graphics card to keep up. Your upgrade to 1440p definitely requires more power from your GPU. Just keep in mind that while a smaller monitor like a 27-inch would technically demand fewer resources at the same resolution, the overall performance you'll see may vary based on other hardware settings.
