I've been trying to switch over to Linux for gaming, but I ran into some issues with Nobara Linux not supporting my GTX 1070 graphics card. I'm looking for recommendations on Linux distros that are good for gaming and also user-friendly for everyday tasks. Any thoughts?

Even Debian stable is decent for gaming, but be aware that with older cards like the 1070, newer games might struggle. I have a 1060, and while it works, performance drops significantly with a lot of the latest titles.
Nobara should work with your GPU if you install the proprietary drivers correctly. Generally, any mainline Linux distro will be fine for gaming if you follow proper installation steps for your drivers. The whole idea of a 'gaming distro' is often exaggerated, as most popular distros provide solid support for gaming without any issues.
CachyOS and Garuda are both great options for gaming and support Nvidia cards well. I've had a good experience with both!
I've tried CachyOS but ended up preferring Pop!_OS 24.04 for my gaming needs. It works smoothly and suits my daily activities well too!

Always check the distro's wiki for GPU support first! For instance, you can find the list of supported Nvidia cards on the Nobara wiki. This can save you some hassle during installation.
