Should I Choose a 9070 XT or 9060 XT for My First PC Build?

I'm working on my first-ever computer build and I'm considering which graphics card to get. I have my eyes on the 9070 XT with 16GB of memory, which is priced at €670, and the 9060 XT, which is going for €380. I'm pairing the GPU with a Ryzen 7 9700X processor. Most of the gaming I do is competitive, mainly Valorant, and I'll be playing on a Mobiuz EX240 monitor at 1080p and 165Hz. While I feel the 9070 XT might be overkill for my needs, I want a card that will last a few years, enabling me to play AAA titles like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in the future. Is it worth it to invest in the 9070 XT, or should I save some money and go for the 9060 XT instead?

Honestly, both cards are way too powerful for 1080p, especially if you're on a 60Hz monitor. You could even get by with something like a 6600, and it would serve your gaming needs just fine.

The 9070 XT is definitely overkill for what you need at 1080p 165Hz. The 9060 XT or even the 5060 Ti 16GB would be completely sufficient for your gaming, and you'll save a lot of money. Remember that GPUs are easy to upgrade, so you can always sell the 9060 XT later when you need better performance. Holding onto a GPU for too long can lose you value as newer models come out.

I think the 5070 is more than enough for 1080p. I play at over 100 fps on 1440p ultra details with it—definitely not necessary to overspend right now!

Thanks for the advice! Which Intel CPU do you think would pair well with the 5060 Ti 16GB? I'm open to spending more on a good CPU.

If you're leaning towards future-proofing your rig, go for the 9070 XT. It might be overkill now, but you'll be able to upgrade to a better monitor and handle 1440p gaming down the line. It’s a solid choice if budget allows!
