Navigating AMD Video Card Options for Linux Compatibility

I've been using Linux for a while now, starting with a Windows setup (Intel 4790k and RX6600XT) and experimenting with different distros. The compatibility of my AMD card has been great, but switching to my Nvidia Optimus laptop has been more challenging. Now, I want to build an all AMD setup (AM5) but I've heard mixed reviews about the new 9000 series Radeon cards due to bugs. Should I consider older models like the 7000 series instead? I'm currently an average 1080p gamer but want the ability to play on a 4K screen without issues. I'm using Nobara right now and wondering if older distros face more compatibility problems. What resources are available to check how well hardware performs with Linux?

You should definitely give the 9000 series a shot! They work well with the kernel version 6.14 and up, which should provide solid performance. Just make sure you keep your system updated to ensure compatibility.

Is the kernel version the only thing I should worry about? I thought the AI features looked interesting, but they don’t seem to match Nvidia's. If I don’t care for DLSS, would an older 7000 series be safer?
