Why Does the YouTube App Have Bugs on My Pixel Phone?

I own a Pixel 7, and I've noticed that the YouTube app seems to be the most problematic one on my device. I've updated everything I can, but it's still really buggy. I find it a bit confusing since it's Google's phone using Google's app. Shouldn't they have tested it on a device like mine? Is there a reason their version might be bug-free while mine isn't?

It could be an issue specifically with your phone model. I’ve used various Pixel and Samsung phones, and while YouTube isn’t perfect, it’s pretty stable for me. I’d suggest clearing the app’s cache and data, then reinstalling it to see if that helps!

When companies get as big as Google, it’s not always a smooth operation. Different departments rarely communicate at that scale, which can lead to silos in information. It’s not surprising that YouTube might not run perfectly on their phones, as the teams responsible might not be in sync.

Let's face it, no software is perfect! But I wonder if this bug shows up even after a factory reset? That could help pinpoint the issue better.

Software will always have some bugs due to its complexity. Anything that’s useful enough will misbehave at times. Internet interactions add even more unpredictability that can cause issues.

Software can be really complex, which is why bugs happen frequently—no matter what specific hardware it’s on. There’s no reason for it to be flawless just because it’s made by Google.
