I'm trying to choose between the Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WiFi6E and the B650E AORUS Elite X AX ICE motherboards. I already purchased G.Skill Ripjaws F5-6800J3445G16GX2-RS5K RAM (6800 MT/s) because I was worried prices might go up. The issue is that both motherboards list my RAM as supported under Ryzen 9000, but it disappears under the Ryzen 7000 filter. I suspect this is because the RAM kit was released after the 7000 series, and they just didn't test it. Should I assume it will work at 6800 MT/s with a 7800X3D, or is that risky?

Just a heads up, 6800 MT/s can be tricky on the 7000 series chips. Sticking with 6000 CL30 or CL32 might be the safer route.
I recently used the B850 Eagle with a build and had no issues with RAM at 6000 MT/s. It worked perfectly right from the start, so I'd say it's a solid choice.
Typically, Ryzen CPUs struggle with RAM speeds above 6000 MT/s unless you use a clock divider. You might be able to run it, but I'd suggest trying to stick with 6000 MT/s for stability.
It should work without problems. You probably won't hit 6800 MT/s with a 1:1 ratio, but it should run fine at lower speeds.
It should work, although it's confusing why RAM manufacturers list CPU compatibility in the first place.
Yeah, I remember early Ryzen chips being picky about RAM; they had some stable issues with certain setups.

Yeah, tweaking the timings could help offset the latency if you go with lower speeds!
