I'm really interested in making my own games, both for Android and consoles. I've gathered a few resources, including books on C#, Java, and C++, and I've watched some tutorials online. I'm thinking of diving into the C# book first, but I'd love to know what path you would recommend. Also, should I invest in a high-quality laptop for this journey? I'm okay with spending around $1-2k since I can use it for coding practice in general as well.

You don’t need a super expensive laptop right away—just something functional will do! Focus on mastering C# first, and really get to grips with the basics. Once you're comfortable with those fundamentals, you might want to check out game engines like Godot. They're great for beginners!

What do you think about getting a console like a PS5 or Xbox for testing? And would it be worth it to get a laptop that has a CD writer for things like game demos? I have a killer idea for a game that would be a blast compared to all those ad-filled ones.
