I opened an .mkv file, but I noticed it's only 25kb. Am I in trouble? The file seems to contain some strange binary data, almost like it could be in Russian. I tried opening it in VSCode and even as a text file but that didn't help. I also ran a scan with MalwareBytes, and nothing came up. What do I do?

You can check it out on Virus Total - pretty reliable for file scans. But from what you’re describing, it’s most likely harmless. What you're seeing seems to be just binary junk rather than any language like Russian.
Wow, that site looks super useful. I had no idea it existed!
Don't stress! It looks like your .mkv file might just be corrupted or not fully downloaded. Matroska is the format, and it can sometimes glitch. Try opening it in a media player like VLC, that usually handles these kinds of files better.

Thanks a ton for the tip!
