Should I Switch from EndeavourOS to Linux Mint for Better Gaming Stability?

I've recently started using EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma on my ThinkPad P16v. So far, it's been smooth overall, with a few minor hiccups like fixing Bluetooth connectivity. However, I've been having trouble while playing L4D2, which keeps crashing, unlike Portal 2 co-op that runs perfectly. I've read that Linux Mint is generally more stable and handles various hardware and drivers better than EndeavourOS, so I'm considering making the switch. However, I love KDE Plasma for its customization, and I've heard it can be tricky to run it on Linux Mint since it's primarily set up for Cinnamon. Is switching worth it, or should I stick with EndeavourOS and try to troubleshoot the issues?

If you're experiencing regular crashes, switching to Linux Mint might not magically solve that. It really depends on whether you're comfortable troubleshooting your current system or looking for something that works better out-of-the-box. Mint's known for stability, but it can be limiting in terms of customization if you want KDE Plasma. Maybe try to fix the existing problems before making a big switch!

Honestly, I don’t think Linux Mint will solve your gaming issues compared to EndeavourOS. They’re both pretty similar in that regard since Mint is also based on Ubuntu. Plus, KDE on Mint can get a bit messy; I'd recommend sticking with EndeavourOS and focusing on fixing the problems instead. Are you using proprietary drivers? You could try launching L4D2 with Proton and see if that helps. Also, have you considered using `gamemoderun` for launching your games? It might improve performance.

Before switching, you might want to explore your current setup more. I mean, switching to Mint won’t necessarily make gaming any better. It’s worth double-checking if you're using the latest kernel and proprietary drivers. Both can significantly affect compatibility with games. You seem to be handling the issues well on EndeavourOS; maybe it's worth digging a bit deeper instead of switching platforms.
