Can I Still Build Apps on My 2016 MacBook or Am I Out of Luck?

I've got a 2016 MacBook that still has a lot of storage space and is pretty fast, but I know it's getting old. My other computer is a low-end 2024 HP that feels like using an iPod nano—it's practically unusable. I'm starting to work with some programmers and I'm wondering if I can actually develop apps on my MacBook, or if I should be looking for something else instead.

You can definitely build apps on your 2016 MacBook! As long as it has a decent amount of RAM—preferably 16GB—and hopefully an SSD, you should be fine. Check out OpenCoreLegacyPatcher if you want to upgrade your OS, but keep in mind it might struggle a bit if the hardware is really old.

Absolutely, especially for front-end development. You probably won’t need heavy processing power for the projects you’re working on, so your MacBook should be sufficient. That said, try to avoid using your slow HP; it sounds like it’s not going to offer a good experience!

Yeah, I really prefer working on my Mac since it's familiar, but I'm just worried it's too outdated for some tasks.
