Troubleshooting a Laptop Battery That Won’t Charge

I ran into a weird issue with my laptop. It was working just fine yesterday, but today when I turned it on, the battery indicator showed 0%. A battery report indicated that it had started at 94% with a capacity of 36,980 mWh, but just 20 seconds later, it reported "--" with only 10 mWh capacity. I'm trying to figure out if this is a problem with the battery itself or if there could be an issue with the battery management system (BMS). I really don't want to buy a new battery if that's not the problem!

Have you checked if the battery charges at all? Sometimes a completely dead battery won't charge, and it's a sign of a deeper issue.

No, it's just stuck at 0%. But interestingly, it doesn't shut down immediately when I unplug it, which is odd.
