Did I ruin my wireless mouse while charging it, and should I worry about my other devices?

I've been in my apartment for over two years and use the same pair of outlets for various devices. Recently, I plugged in my MX Anywhere 3 wireless mouse to charge it overnight. However, when I connected it, I noticed the green charging light was flickering instead of staying solid, which seemed odd. This morning, after unplugging it, my mouse wouldn't turn on—no lights, no connection to my laptop. I suspect it might be dead and wonder if that flickering was a sign of something wrong. Was there an unstable current? Am I putting my other devices at risk by continuing to use this outlet for charging? I charged the mouse with an Apple USB C cable connected to an Apple dual USB C 35W power adapter, which is plugged into an extension cord.

I read that some unbranded devices have specific charging requirements. If your mouse is legitimate, it shouldn't have an issue, but make sure any charger you use is quality. Sometimes, budget chargers can mess things up, even if they look standard.

Sounds like an incident! Just be cautious with any cheap or no-name chargers you use in the future. They might have hidden risks that can compromise not just the mouse but potentially your other devices.

It's possible that your mouse's battery was too far gone to recharge. If it won’t turn on at all, it might be time to say goodbye to it. Some users have better luck with trickle chargers, so it could be worth a shot, though it might end up being e-waste.

It sounds like the battery regulator in your mouse may have failed. That flickering light likely indicated that something wasn't right during charging. If you’ve been using that outlet safely for other devices, I doubt it's endangering them. But I'd keep an eye on everything just to be safe!

You might want to consider trying a different charger or cable to see if that affects the mouse. If it's still not working, it might be worth digging deeper into the issue. A USB tester could help you check the current it's receiving if you're interested in troubleshooting further.
