Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building my 12-year-old son his first gaming PC and would love some guidance. He enjoys playing Roblox and is also getting into coding and game design, like RollCoaster Tycoon. An IT guy at work helped me put together a PC build list, and here's what he suggested:
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
- Gigabyte B550MK (mATX)
- 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18
- Crucial P3 1TB NVMe M.2
- Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+ White
- Deep Cool MATREXX 30 (mATX)
- Thermalright Assassin X 120SE
I want to make sure these components are suitable for his needs. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If your son primarily plays Roblox and builds games, this setup should work just fine for now. But keep in mind that as he grows more into gaming, a dedicated GPU in the future would dramatically boost performance. Just curious, what's your budget?
Honestly, 32GB of RAM is overkill for what your son plays. I'd recommend sticking with 16GB, which is more than enough for gaming and coding. If you're planning for future upgrades, consider a more powerful power supply—aim for a 650W fully modular one. If the motherboard has only two RAM slots, starting with 1x16GB stick is wise, then you can add another later. If it has four slots, then go for 2x8GB.
I would suggest swapping out that Thermaltake Smart 500W power supply. It's pretty low tier. Instead, check out the MSI MAG A550BN; it's about the same price and offers much better performance.

Thanks for that tip! Is everything else on the list alright?
