I was recently playing a game when I noticed that it kept crashing whenever I tried alt-tabbing or doing anything similar. After checking Task Manager, I realized that my system only recognized 8GB of RAM instead of 16GB. I figured that one of my RAM sticks might need to be reseated. Not being very tech-savvy, I followed an online tutorial to properly reinstall the RAM. However, after doing that, my PC turns on, but my monitor remains blank. What could be wrong? Is it time to panic?

A common fix for this issue is to reset the CMOS. Doing this helps the BIOS detect your new RAM configuration properly. You might need to use a jumper or a screwdriver to short the reset pins. Check your motherboard manual for the exact location of these pins.

That makes sense! I saw a tutorial suggesting to remove the battery from the CMOS for about 20 minutes to reset it, but that didn't work for me either. I have an ASUS Z87 Plus motherboard; I guess I need to locate those pins for the reset.
