Hey everyone! A couple of years back, I stepped away from web development even though I was comfortable with Node.js and React. I had a decent grasp on TypeScript and learned about hooks, testing, and databases, but I never really delved too deep into any of them. Now, I'm eager to get back into the groove of coding and want to treat it more professionally, even though I'm not currently working in tech. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to keep my options open for any future opportunities. I'm familiar with MongoDB, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Express, React (with TypeScript), and Supertest, but I'm looking for advice on how to level up my skills. What do you recommend I focus on?

If you're aiming for a professional level, the best advice is to build something from scratch. Facing challenges during development will deepen your understanding. Make sure to use resources like documentation and forums for help. Utilize AI tools sparingly—mostly for clarifications and brainstorming—but try to write the code yourself for the best learning experience. Your skills seem suitable for creating full-stack MVPs once you get back into it. Best of luck!

Totally agree! Learning from mistakes is invaluable. I suggest you build something practical, even better if you can make it open source. It not only serves as a portfolio but keeps you motivated too!
