I just bought some Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM (CMK32GX5M2X7200C34) for my build, which includes an MSI B650M Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard and an R5 9600X CPU. I'm wondering if it's possible to overclock this RAM to its advertised speed. I made this purchase in a rush due to the shortage, so I'm a bit anxious about whether I made the right choice. Any advice?

Running 7200 on AM5 is doable, but it might require some tweaking with the dividers. You could aim for 6400 at 2133/3200, but after adding two more sticks, I had to settle at 6000 (2000/3000). The R5 9600X could benefit from faster speeds if you can manage the FCLK at 1:3 and UCLK at 1:2, although reaching those speeds can be tricky. You’ll definitely need to do some manual tuning, so check out forums like Buildzoid and Overclockers UK for more tips.
You can try running the DDR5 7200, but it might not give you the best performance. The memory controller for Zen 4/5 tends to default to a slower speed beyond DDR5 6000 (3000MHz). It’s recommended to load the XMP profile but manually set the frequency down to DDR5 6000 and tighten the timings to get the best results. If you’re not sure about how to set this up, a screenshot from ZenTimings would help you tweak the settings.
Does this method work on Linux too? Thanks for the information!

Do you have any references to back that up? I'm curious if there's a way to test this myself since I'm using a 6400CL32 kit with a 7800X3D.
