I'm looking to transfer around 100GB of data from my 5-year-old Windows laptop to my new PC, which I believe is also running Windows. I'm not quite sure whether it's better to use a USB cable or a USB stick for this transfer. I have $15 on an Amazon gift card and $25 on a Visa card to spend on whatever I need. Can anyone advise me on the best method to do this and suggest any links to purchase the necessary equipment from Amazon?

If both your laptop and new PC are running Windows, you have a few options. A USB flash drive is a straightforward and speedy way to transfer files. You could go for a 128GB drive, which should be more than enough for your needs. Just make sure to format it properly before starting.

Is it safe to use a flash drive for transferring files?

Yeah, that sounds simple enough!

Another option is to map a network drive between the two computers if they're both connected to the same router. It might be a bit technical, but it's a quick way to transfer files without needing any extra hardware. You can check Microsoft's support page for how to set this up.
