I've got an older PC setup that still works for my usual tasks, but I'm ready to take things up a notch. However, I really don't know where to start with upgrades. My specs are as follows: Motherboard is a GIGABYTE X570 UD ATX, CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, GPU is a 1660 SUPER 6GB, I've got 16GB of DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM, and a 600w Thermaltake 80 Plus Gold PSU. I've heard that my motherboard can only support AMD 5000 series processors, which feels limiting. I'd like to upgrade my GPU, but that might mean I need a new CPU, and potentially a new motherboard, which could lead to needing a new power supply as well. At this point, would it make more sense to just sell everything and buy a completely new system?

First off, you don’t need a whole new PC just yet! Instead of swapping out everything, consider upgrading your GPU first—something like the RX 7800 XT 16GB could be a great choice. Adding another 16GB of RAM wouldn't hurt either, especially if you’re gaming. This setup should keep you good for another couple of years. Just keep in mind what games you play and at what resolution, as that’ll influence your decisions.

I mostly game at 1080p. I play a lot of War Thunder (which is easy on hardware), but I also enjoy RDR2, FiveM, and I'm looking forward to GTA6. My current post was inspired by wanting to play Arc Raiders!
