I've been experiencing packet loss since I moved into my first apartment. Initially, I had DSL, which was reliable, but after switching to fiber a year later, I noticed severe packet loss as soon as my neighbors came home and started using their internet. I eventually moved across the country, hoping to get back to the reliable cable internet I had at my parents' house. However, I'm still facing the same issue with packet loss when my neighbors use their connections. Is this a common problem in apartment buildings? Shouldn't ISPs ensure we aren't experiencing packet conflicts if we all pay for our own internet?

Sounds like your router might be the culprit! If you're using a 5GHz connection, consider upgrading to a Wi-Fi 6E router or something similar that handles congestion better. That could help with the packet loss you're experiencing when everyone else is online.

Interesting! I didn't know that could be an issue. I'll definitely look into that.
