I recently got a pre-built PC and noticed that while playing games, my keyboard layout seems to mess up. The letter A is now where P should be, and the Delete key has turned into F1! It happened when I was playing Outer Worlds and although I fixed it by restarting my PC, I'd really like to find a better solution if it keeps happening.

Try checking your keyboard settings in Windows. Press WIN + I to open Settings. Go to Time & language, then Language & region. In the Preferred languages section, select your language (like English (United States)) and click on Language options. Under Keyboards, ensure your desired layout (like US QWERTY) is listed and remove any layouts you don't need. If your preferred layout is missing, click 'Add a keyboard' to include it, then remove the others. This should help reset your settings to the correct layout.
Make sure you haven't accidentally switched to a different keyboard layout like Dvorak. It's a good idea to check your current keyboard settings to ensure they are set to English and QWERTY. If everything seems okay but the layout is still wrong, try unplugging and replugging in your keyboard to see if that helps.
If your preferred layout is set correctly but you're still facing issues, it might be related to the games you're playing. Some games can change input settings. If the problem persists even after a restart, you might want to check for updates for your graphics drivers or keyboard drivers, as they could be causing conflicts.
