I'm pretty new to this whole computer thing and I'm facing some trouble with running my FPS games smoothly. My games seem to stutter and I experience screen tearing, especially during intense combat scenes. I've kept my drivers updated, but I'm wondering if my PC is outdated or bottlenecked. Here are my specs:
- Mortar B450M motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
- TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB Video Card
- Running Windows 10
I don't know a lot about computers, so any guidance would be appreciated! I'm considering upgrading my RAM to 32GB. Would that help?

You might want to get a monitoring tool that shows in-game stats like GPU, CPU, RAM usage, and temperatures. This should help you pinpoint what's causing the bottleneck during your gameplay.
It sounds like your GPU could be the bottleneck here. The RTX 2070 should handle most FPS games quite well, but if you're maxing out graphics settings, that might be causing the slowdowns.
Hopefully that's not the case; upgrading can get expensive!
Screen tearing could be due to your monitor or you might need to enable Vsync. If that’s the only issue, it might be manageable. Try turning on the overlay in Steam to monitor FPS, GPU, CPU, and RAM usage, just to keep an eye on things.
I really dislike Vsync; it’s the first thing I turn off! I might need to upgrade my monitor to a 144Hz, though, since I think mine is just 75Hz.
First, make sure to update to the latest official BIOS from MSI, especially since you’re using a Mortar B450M motherboard. As for the stuttering, which specific games are giving you trouble, at what resolution and graphics settings?
I'm actually updating the BIOS right now! I've been having trouble with Escape From Tarkov, getting only 60 FPS on low settings, but Battlefield 6 runs fine for me.

Thanks! I usually have the FPS, GPU %, and CPU % displayed, but I haven’t checked RAM usage or temperatures yet.
