I've recently built a new PC with a 7900x processor, and now I have my old rig with a 5900x just sitting around. It's set up on a test stand, and I've repurposed the GPU, case, and fans from my previous build. However, the old PC is currently using a very outdated AMD WX2100 GPU, and I have it connected to an old AIO liquid cooler. The radiator is awkwardly positioned next to it, making it tough to move. I also have an old air cooler from a Ryzen 2000 series processor. If I'm only powering up the old PC occasionally just to check some files, will using that small air cooler be sufficient?

Different Ryzen models came with various coolers, but even a tiny air cooler is better than nothing at all. Just keep an ear out for the CPU getting too hot; if the fan starts sounding like a jet engine, that’s a clear sign!

Thanks for your input! I just set it up, and before I did, I disabled several startup programs. It booted fine and idles around 50°C. On boot, it peaks in the high 70s to mid-80s, but I’m not planning to do anything CPU-intensive.
