Should I buy a used 5060 Ti 8GB for $260?

I'm considering upgrading my GPU since I'm running a new Ryzen 7 9700X and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, but I'm currently stuck with a 4-year-old RTX 2070, which isn't cutting it on my new 4K monitor. I found a used 5060 Ti with 8GB of VRAM for $260. I know 8GB isn't ideal for 4K gaming, but that price feels like a steal. Should I take the plunge? I've seen better cards like the 6900 XT for around $450, but those are older, use more power, and run hotter. What's the best move here?

Honestly, $260 seems pretty standard for a used 5060 Ti 8GB—it’s not like you’re snagging an absolute steal here. If you’re cool with 30-60 FPS in less demanding games, it might be worth it. Just be aware that if you love fast-paced shooters, you’ll be wanting more power than this can provide. It’s a solid choice if you can wait for prices to go down on better options.

The current models are selling for around $350, so $260 is actually a decent deal. Just remember, it really depends on the games you play. An 8GB card can limit you on newer titles, but for some older games or medium/high settings with DLSS, it might work out fine. Personally, I've had good luck with my 12GB 5070 at 4K, but if you expect to push all settings to the max, you might want to consider going for something else later on.

If you're targeting 1440p gaming, consider looking at the 9060 XT with 16GB. It's generally better for that resolution, and even though it can handle 4K, you shouldn't expect high frame rates with just 8GB of VRAM. Definitely check out some benchmarks before deciding—there are some trade-offs involved, and sometimes having the right amount of VRAM is crucial for optimal performance.
