I'm in a tough situation, having been unemployed for a while and living with my aging parents. I'm 38, dealing with TMJ and sleep apnea, and I really want to find a way to make money from home. I'm considering learning coding, but I'm not passionate about it and I'm deaf. I'm unsure if it's a waste of my time since my motivation is primarily financial. Data entry jobs seem scarce, and programming often appears to be one of the few fields that might be suitable for someone like me. I didn't learn ASL because I grew up using a hearing aid and relying on speech, which makes communication challenging. I feel stuck between the hearing and deaf communities and just need some direction on whether I should invest my energy into coding or explore other options.

Learning coding without passion can be really tough. It's a competitive field, and while it’s possible to find a job, enthusiasm is key to pushing through the hurdles. You might discover a newfound love for it, but don’t expect to earn much right away, especially with AI taking over many tasks. Good luck!

Thanks for your honesty! I know it's a challenge, especially since I'm social but struggle to find jobs due to needing accommodations. I’m hoping coding could be a better fit, even if it feels less social.
