What’s the best upgrade path for playing Battlefield 6 at 1440p without major drops?

I'm currently using an RTX 3080 10GB and an Intel i7 10700K, and I'm trying to figure out what to upgrade so I can play Battlefield 6 at 1440p with ultra/high settings more smoothly (including using DLSS). Right now, I'm averaging about 105 fps, but I experience drops down to around 80 fps, which makes the game feel choppy. On low settings, it runs perfectly smooth. Both my CPU and GPU are hitting about 90% usage, and I have 16GB of RAM. If I decide to upgrade the CPU, I'd also need to switch to DDR5 RAM, but those prices are crazy! I don't see any obvious bottlenecks since the CPU and GPU seem well matched, but I feel like I need to upgrade everything to see any real improvements.

You might want to try using MSI Afterburner to monitor your GPU and CPU usage while gaming. You’ll get a clearer idea of where the bottleneck is. Also, I'd suggest upgrading your RAM beyond 16GB; that's likely causing some of the drops.

I already checked, and both my CPU and GPU are around 90%. RAM is sitting at about 12.8GB used out of 16.

Check out the CPU-scaling benchmarks on Techspot. Your setup seems to be performing about as expected for your CPU given the settings. You might be limited by the CPU for max fps. Also, optimizing your RAM timings could help. What kind of RAM do you have?

I’ve got Ripjaws V 3600 CL16-19-19-39 and I’m using the balanced DLSS setting (the quality mode doesn’t look great for me).

I’ve got an Ultra 7 265K and an RTX 5070 Ti with 32GB of RAM, and I run everything on ultra at 1440p getting around 120 fps. Sounds like you might need a full system upgrade to reach those stable fps you're aiming for!

So basically, you're saying the only real solution is to just upgrade everything? I thought my setup was pretty balanced.
