Accidentally Installed a Trojan – What Should I Do?

I accidentally installed something that my Windows flagged as 'bearfoos ml a'. It seems like a Trojan since it prompted my laptop to restart and now it's displaying a fake BIOS update with a 20-second countdown. I've turned off my laptop and removed the USB drive. Does anyone know what this is and what steps I should take? Thanks in advance!

Also, I noticed something odd in my task manager called 'osteoarthritis.exe'. Any ideas what that is?

I quarantined it, and honestly, who names a file that? Pretty suspicious!

Try to boot your laptop in Safe Mode with Networking. Once you're in, you can run Malwarebytes to scan and remove any malware that's causing issues.

I managed to get into Safe Mode, thanks for the tip!

The best course of action is to reinstall Windows using a USB stick. That should get rid of the Trojan for sure.

You should also consider running a full system scan with MalwareBytes or Kaspersky Rescue to check for any remaining threats.
