I'm considering buying a used Ryzen 5 5500 for 25 euros. The seller claims it wasn't working on his Asrock B450M-HDV R4.0 because the CPU didn't seem to 'activate', but all the pins look fine. Someone asked about the BIOS version on the motherboard, and he mentioned it's P10.10. The seller appears to be more of a recycler, with mostly old PCs from 2008-2012 in his listings. Given all this, do you think I made a good decision in purchasing this CPU?

Just so you know, according to ASRock's website, the Ryzen 5 5500 should be supported with BIOS version P4.90 and above. You might want to check if the motherboard has an update.
I bought a Ryzen 5 5500 to replace my R5 1600, and it's totally worth it at that price! It's a solid upgrade compared to the old stuff.
Honestly, for 25 euros, it's a steal! Even if it ends up being broken, the loss isn't that significant. You could potentially salvage it or resell it easily.

If it works out, you've got a great deal on your hands! Just keep your fingers crossed it was just a BIOS issue.

Exactly! The 5500 really shows what a difference an upgrade can make. It's a beast compared to the 1600!
