I'm planning to play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on a 32:9 1440p ultrawide monitor with medium to high settings. Currently, I have an R5 3600 processor and a GTX 1660 Super graphics card. I want to upgrade to a 7900 XTX now and will replace the motherboard, RAM, and CPU later with an AM5 socket. I know the CPU will bottleneck the GPU initially, but is that an acceptable compromise? Ideally, I'm hoping for around 40-50 FPS with payware aircraft. Is this realistic? I'm new to building PCs and would appreciate your insights!

Upgrading to the 7900 XTX will definitely be a significant boost compared to your current GTX 1660 Super. The only downside is that you won't be getting the full performance of the 7900 XTX until you upgrade your CPU later on. But it should still perform well enough for your needs! Just make sure your PSU can handle it since the 7900 XTX requires quite a bit of power.
If you can, consider picking up a 5700X3D or 5800X3D for now. With RAM prices being high, sticking with your current setup for a bit may save you some money. Also, I'm curious why you chose the 7900 XTX specifically?
Thanks for the tip! The prices for the AM4 X3D CPUs are crazy, around €400-500. Plus, I went for the 7900 XTX because it has 24GB of VRAM, which I heard is beneficial for addons.

Thanks for your reply! I'm okay with not fully utilizing the GPU yet. My PSU is 850W Gold, so I should be good, right?
