I'm planning to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU) of my prebuilt gaming PC because the one that came with it is pretty subpar. Currently, I have a non-modular PSU, and I'm curious if purchasing a modular one means it will include all the necessary cables for a straightforward swap. Also, I'm aiming for a 1000 watt PSU, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

While modular PSUs do include all necessary cables, I wouldn't just focus on that alone. You should also consider their overall quality and your power requirements. Can you tell me what CPU and GPU you're working with? Also, what's your budget?
You might be better off with an 850W PSU instead of going straight to 1000W for most high-end builds. Unless you're planning on using top-tier components, 850W usually provides plenty of headroom! What parts are you planning to power?
It's definitely possible to replace the PSU, especially if your prebuilt uses standard components. If it doesn't, though, you might need some adapters to make it work. What model do you have?
As long as you buy a modular unit that’s new, it should come with all the cables you'll need. Just make sure to check the product details if you're buying used!
Honestly, if you're on a budget, you might not need anything overkill. Why not consider undervolting your GPU for better efficiency instead of just replacing the PSU?

Got it! I’ll look for new options then.
