Is the RX 9070 XT Really Worth the Extra $153 Over the RTX 5070?

I recently got an RTX 5070 (PNY OC 3 fan) from Best Buy, using a gift card from my job. After tax, my total cost was $339. However, I'm thinking about returning it to grab the RX 9070 XT for $684 (which would be $492 out of pocket) because I've heard VRAM can be a serious issue. This is a jump of $153, or 28% overall (45% more out of pocket).

I mostly game at 1440p, and I sometimes use a 4K TV, but I expect to compromise on graphics at that resolution. My CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600, and I'd like to upgrade it later, but I wanted to focus on the GPU for now, especially with future pricing being uncertain.

So, is the 9070 XT worth the extra cash compared to the RTX 5070? I'm particularly concerned about VRAM, performance differences, and the advantages of NVIDIA features which seem to be more widely accepted. I'm limited to Best Buy because of my gift card, and they don't have any non-XT models available at a lower price.

Honestly, the RTX 5070 is still solid, and if you pair it with a good CPU, you'll have a great experience. I have the 9070 XT, and while it's nice, the performance gap isn't huge enough to justify the extra cost unless you're focused on high-end gaming.

If you're looking to keep your GPU for a while, the RX 9070 XT is a good choice. It has 16GB of VRAM and generally better performance, which means it might future-proof your setup. But if you prefer features like ray tracing and DLSS, and want to save some cash for a CPU upgrade later, sticking with the RTX 5070 could be the smarter move.

Yeah, if you need the performance boost at higher resolutions, the 9070 XT is definitely better. But remember, I saw it going for around $599 online, so I wouldn't overpay too much for it. Maybe try to price match that deal.

For that price difference, the RX 9070 XT offers notably better specs. But keep in mind what games you play and what kind of resolutions you aim for. If you can, look for deals on CPUs too, because the Ryzen 5 5600 might bottle next-gen graphics.
