Is the RX 9070 XT Worth the Price Increase Over the RTX 5070?

I recently bought an RTX 5070 from Best Buy, using a gift card to cut down the cost to $339. Now, I'm considering whether to return it and spend $684 (about $492 out of pocket) on an RX 9070 XT. That's a $153 price jump, which is significant. I primarily game at 1440p, but I do have a 4K TV for occasional use too. My current CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600, and I'm thinking of upgrading it later, but I'm leaning towards getting a solid GPU first due to the uncertain prices in the future. Is the RX 9070 XT worth the extra cash compared to the RTX 5070, especially regarding VRAM, overall performance, and NVIDIA's features that are commonly used? Currently, I'm stuck shopping at Best Buy due to my gift card restrictions, and they don't have the non-XT version in stock for a better price.

If you plan to keep your GPU for a while and want to avoid upgrades soon, I'd go for the RX 9070 XT for its 16GB of VRAM and better raster performance. It's more future-proof, but if you care more about ray tracing or DLSS features and want to spend less now, maybe stick with the RTX 5070. You could use that $153 savings for a CPU upgrade later since your Ryzen 5600 might bottleneck in some scenarios.

Yeah, that's a fair point! Future-proofing is definitely key these days.

Right? It's all about balancing the overall system performance.

Honestly, the price difference isn't huge for the performance boost you get. The RX 9070 XT aligns more with a 5070 Ti and is a solid option. You might wanna consider other models as well. Just make sure where you use that gift card as options can be limited.

You got that right! There are definitely decent alternatives out there.

The RTX 5070 is decent, but I have the 9070 XT, and it's a nice upgrade with better raw performance. DLSS and FSR do help narrow things down between the cards for gaming. If I were you, I'd consider investing some extra cash into a 5700X3D or 5800X3D later for a more overall rounded gaming experience instead of going all in on the 9070 XT now, given the market's uncertainty.

Definitely! A strong CPU can sometimes make a bigger difference than just going for a better GPU.

If you need the extra performance, the RX 9070 XT is definitely worth it. The VRAM will make a difference at higher resolutions. I found them for around $599 online, which seems more reasonable. You might want to check if you can price match that somewhere.
