I just received a notification that my AWS account has been permanently closed because of an unpaid bill of $8, which I was unaware of. I mainly use this account to store important files like code and significant family photos, including those from my uncle's funeral and my wedding. I'm terrified of losing these memories. Can anyone let me know if AWS deletes files automatically with this kind of account closure, and what my options might be to recover my files?

If you need to get your data back, contacting support is critical. They might be able to help, even if the account has been closed, so give that a shot! Also, consider setting up a backup plan next time so you don't have to rely solely on AWS for those important files.
Honestly, it’s tough to see such important stuff lost over an $8 bill. This is a reminder to keep an eye on billing notifications! Hopefully, AWS will be understanding and can help you out.
You should definitely file a support ticket with AWS right away. Sometimes they have a grace period, like a 90-day window, where they can reinstate your account. Don’t wait too long!

I actually just found out that the 90 days has passed for my case since they just sent the email this morning. I attempted to log in to pay off the balance, but there was no option. I've already filed a support ticket, though.
