Hey everyone! I'm considering switching to Linux Mint for an older PC with 8GB of RAM, integrated graphics, and a 500GB SSD. My primary use will be work-related: managing emails, downloads, working with PDFs, and doing some basic image and audio editing with GIMP and Audacity. I've already noted that one version is based on Ubuntu while the other is on Debian. What other differences should I expect that could affect my workflow and system stability?

From what I've seen, LMDE tends to be updated less frequently compared to standard Linux Mint. If you want the latest features and updates, I'd say go for Linux Mint. However, LMDE is still valid if you don't mind waiting a bit for updates. It all depends on what you prioritize!
I've used both LMDE and Linux Mint on similar laptops. Honestly, for everyday use, they feel very similar. Both are well-designed and get regular updates. I haven't noticed significant differences in workflow or stability myself. If you're curious about technical distinctions, there are some good comparison articles out there. Personally, I lean towards LMDE for daily use but recommend Linux Mint for newcomers due to its more extensive support resources. Either way, you can't go wrong with either choice!
