Hey everyone! I'm in need of some recommendations for a Linux distribution after Windows let me down. I've previously used Fedora and Arch, but now as a high school student, I'm looking for something more practical and customizable. While I appreciate that Arch is lightweight and runs cooler on my machine compared to Fedora, it tends to be a bit too frequent with updates for my 250 GB hard drive over time. On the other hand, Fedora is more beginner-friendly. I'm specifically looking for a lightweight distro that has a balance in updates and allows me to install apps myself. As a KDE user, I'd love your suggestions for distros that fit these criteria. Thanks a lot!

How about Tuxedo OS? I've settled on that one after testing about 20 different distros and it works great!
Consider trying Mint with XFCE. It's light on resources and offers good customization options!
Debian 13 with Plasma could be a solid choice. It provides regular small security patches and updates every few years. Plus, it works really well with Flatpak!
You might like Athena OS. It’s based on Arch and has a cool aesthetic, perfect for a fresh setup!
