How Can I Disable Copilot in Microsoft Word?

I spend a lot of time working in Microsoft Word, and it's essential for my job. Recently, an annoying Copilot feature popped up in the corner of my screen, but I'm not interested in using it. I've tried looking for options to turn it off, but I can't find anything to disable it. I'm considering using third-party software if necessary to completely remove it from my computer. Is there any way to get rid of Copilot for good?

It sounds like your company might have activated Copilot for everyone, which is why you can’t disable it. If it's part of a company-wide Microsoft 365 license, you might not have the option to turn it off yourself. Check with your IT department for help.

Wow, that could actually be the case! I didn’t think of that.

To turn off Copilot, go to File > Options > Copilot and uncheck the "Enable Copilot" box. If you don't see the Copilot option, it might be enforced by your organization’s policy, so you’d need to reach out to them for support.

What if the Copilot tab isn't showing up? Does that mean I’m stuck with it?

If you're looking for alternatives, LibreOffice is a great option. It's free and doesn’t have that Copilot nonsense bothering you.

I need Microsoft Word specifically for macros, so switching isn’t really what I’m looking for.

Honestly, just ignore it. If it’s really bugging you, try not clicking on any prompts it gives. It’s designed to be unobtrusive when you don’t interact with it.

Right? Who actually uses Microsoft Copilot anyway? It's such a distraction when I’m trying to work.
