My iPhone Won’t Charge — What’s Going On?

I bought an iPhone 16 Pro back in July, and just a few days ago, while it was at 5% battery, it shut off instead of charging. I checked the charging port, and it was clean, but even the MagSafe charger wouldn't work. Since it was still under warranty, I took it to the Apple Store. They replaced the logic board, which was a huge hassle, and I ended up losing 70GB of data because it wasn't backed up on iCloud. It needed fixing urgently for work. Fast forward to today, my battery was low again, and it shut off when I tried to charge it; now it won't turn on at all. I've tried three different chargers and even a force reboot, but nothing's working. I'm really frustrated and don't want to keep going back to the Apple Store. Is there a chance I could ask Apple for a new phone instead? I really want to avoid having this issue again, especially once my warranty is up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You mentioned losing all that data when Apple fixed it. Why didn’t you back up all that stuff in iCloud? Sounds like a costly oversight.

Could those off-brand chargers cause damage to your device? Just wondering if that might be an issue.

Keep trying! I once had an issue like this with my Air, and it eventually turned back on while plugged in. Fingers crossed that yours revives too!

I really hope it does turn back on!

Why put up with this problem? You spent good money on a new iPhone. Do you think it’s just a glitch?

Are you switching up power outlets when using those different chargers? A blown fuse or something with the outlet could cause problems, too. Just a thought!

I considered that, but I’ve switched outlets and even tried charging at my brother’s place.

Do you happen to own any fast chargers? Some of those can actually damage your device.

I've tried the original Apple charger and then some others, but nothing is working, not even the wireless charger!

You might be dealing with a bad charger or cable, but if you've already tried multiple chargers, that might not be it. Have you had any luck with other power sources? Sometimes it's the outlet that’s the problem.

I initially thought that too, but I've tested different outlets and even used my brother's setup, and nothing seems to work.

When you take your phone to Apple, they'll decide if they can replace it instead of repairing it. If you have AppleCare, you can look into the Express Replacement Service, but note that you might not get a brand new phone, just a refurbished one with a new battery.

Thanks for the info! I’ll probably have to visit Apple again, but at least I feel like I'm more informed this time.
