Is it a Smart Move to Buy a Used 7900 XTX for $500?

I'm thinking about buying a used 7900 XTX from a friend for $500, which seems like a good deal considering it's less than what new ones sell for. I trust that the card works well and has been taken care of. However, I'm concerned about AMD's lack of support for older cards moving forward. Is this purchase a wise investment for the future?

That price is a steal for a card like that! The 7900 XTX is really solid, especially for raw performance. If you're considering newer GPUs, the 9070 XT could be comparable with better features like improved ray tracing and FSR 4. They're going for around $600 minimum, so grabbing the 7900 XTX might be a smart play if you need the extra VRAM.
