I've been using a Ryzen 5 5600x and an RTX 3060 for about three years now. When I first built my setup, it was top-notch, but it feels like it's starting to fall behind. I'm considering an upgrade to a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and an RTX 4080. Do you think it's worth it, or should I spend my money elsewhere? How much longer do you think my current setup will last?

I just switched from a 1080 Ti to a 2070 Super and I'm still hanging on to my 10700K. While I totally get the urge to upgrade, my current setup lets me play every game at high settings in 1080p without issues. Sure, I want to push for 2K or 4K with high frame rates eventually, but for now, I'm pretty happy with what I have.
Honestly, there's no such thing as a truly future-proof upgrade. A few years ago, I built my rig with a 5900X and a 3080, and look where we are now with the Ryzen 9000 series and 5000 series GPUs. I replaced my GPU with a 4090 and it's great, but I'm not about to constantly sink money into upgrades. If you go for the 7800X3D and 4080, you'll definitely be set for a while.
I hear you about wanting the best. It’s tough when prices for top-tier GPUs, like the 4090, are insane where you are. The 4080 is a solid choice too, especially since the availability and prices can vary so much. If you think it’s worth the investment for your usage, then go for it! Just don't forget about the rest of your setup's compatibility.
Your Ryzen 5600 and RTX 3060 aren't obsolete yet—they're still pretty capable. But it really depends on what games you play. If you're struggling with something like DCS and want to run streaming software, that’s a good reason to consider an upgrade. Just keep in mind that prices for RAM have risen, so upgrading could get pricey.
