Is it Worth Upgrading from HDD to SSD?

I've recently upgraded my PC and have been advised to replace my current 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD with an SSD. I'm curious about what SSD model I should consider, and whether I need to get a 2TB SSD to match my HDD's capacity or if I can go smaller.

Upgrading to an SSD is a game changer! I personally use a Samsung EVO 2TB, and it's been fantastic. You won't regret switching from an HDD to an SSD at all.

If your HDD isn't full, a 2TB SSD should be fine, but if it is, consider going up to a 4TB SSD since they can slow down when filled. An M.2 NVMe SSD like the Samsung 980 Evo is a solid choice. Just keep in mind you'll likely need to reinstall Windows.

Upgrading to an SSD will significantly speed up your boot times and overall system performance. If you're using it as a boot drive, consider one with a DRAM cache for even better performance. I’ve had great experiences with the WD Black SN850x!

Before buying an SSD, check that your motherboard supports NVMe models. Brands like Samsung, WD, Kingston, and Crucial are safe bets. I recommend aiming for at least the same capacity you have now, especially if you plan to clone your HDD.

Definitely go for an NVMe M.2 drive if you've got modern components! Just connect that drive until you've got Windows installed, then you can add your HDD again later.
