I'm having a weird issue with my touchpad. Since I cleaned out my cooling fans, the cursor has been lagging even though everything is set to maximum speed. It sometimes moves erratically, clicks on things randomly, and can even freeze, with the cursor disappearing at times. Restarting or shutting down temporarily fixes it, but the problem keeps coming back. I'm considering getting a desktop mouse to sidestep this problem, but I'd like to find a solution for my touchpad. I've already tried unplugging and replugging the battery, adjusting speed and pointer precision, turning the touchpad off and on, and even lightly tapping the touchpad. Today it disappeared for hours until I shut it down! Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Definitely could be a hardware issue. If the connection to the motherboard is loose, it could cause those erratic behaviors. If you're unsure about opening it up, you might want to take it to a repair shop just to be safe.
It might also be worth checking if there's any driver issue. Sometimes, after making hardware changes, the drivers can get a bit wonky. Try updating your touchpad drivers and see if that helps!
It sounds like the touchpad connector might have gotten loosened or dusty during your fan cleaning. Have you thought about opening the laptop back up to check the connection between the touchpad and the motherboard? It's a pretty common issue after a clean-up like that.
