How can I connect two 4K monitors to a PC with only one HDMI port?

I'm trying to set up two 4K monitors for my PC, but it only has one HDMI port. If I use an HDMI splitter, will it support the same resolution on both monitors, or will it just mirror one display? I can't upgrade my video card right now, so I'm looking for other solutions. Any ideas?

An HDMI splitter isn't really the way to go. It's best to look for a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter if your computer has a DisplayPort outlet. That way, you can get both screens to work independently.

Thanks, I definitely need independent screens. I hadn't even thought of checking for other output options!

Using an HDMI splitter will simply duplicate the same image on both monitors. If you want independent displays, you’ll need two separate video outputs.
